Wow! That's a lot per hour!
What is the normal going rate for cms in that area?

I agree, sounds more like babysitting.

I was advised not put what I charge in my profile, as parents just go on price, and don't look beyond that. What does everyone else do?

Talking about mileage costs, I have just past my test, and have no idea as to what I can claim as mileage for CM journies. Can someone offer some advice please?
Thanks
Jess

currently its .40p per mile with an extra .05p if carrying a colleague..ie another cm
but hebs thinks that the budget mentioned this is rising to .45p a mile so guessing .50p with another cm.

I thought that it would be going up from 40p per mile but I cannot see anything mentioned in the budget

Yes it has gone up to 45p for the first 10,000 miles.

I believe I am right in saying that you cannot actually use this new figure until next tax year - 2011 to 2012...

so this years' mileage needs to go through at the 40p per mile figure.

:D

It takes effect from 6/4/11, and the extra 5p per passenger still applies aswell. Just checked it out on the HMRC website

Yes, should have said this only applies for journeys made after the 5th April. Unfortunately the 5p passenger rate does not apply for the self employed though, and never has.

This is the info I was looking for - and tbh I cnat find any speak of this on the NCMA factsheets anywho. All I can find is the AMAP - which is most complex and offputting.

GLory be.

In case you haven't picked it up, the HMRC information for the self-employed is in BIM47702 (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/bimmanual/bim47702.htm). If you have any employee assistants, the rules that apply to the payments you make to them (which can include the 5p per mile passenger rate if they carry you for instance) are here (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/paye/exb/a-z/m/mileage-expenses.htm).

Neither of these sources of information has been updated for the 45p rate from 6 April 2011 at the time of posting this message.
