Does anyone have a wooden workbench (play one, obviously!)? I have a plastic JCB one, but am in the process of swapping my toys to wooden ones & that's next on the list.

Any recommendations?

That looks good, just need wooden tools to go with it now! I would also like to replace some of my plastic toys with wooden, problem is they are so much more expensive and the lo's don't seem to like them so much if they aren't all singing all dancing :panic:

i was going to suggest the Ikea one having seen it on the website this weekend - they also have some lovely wooden tools for about a tenner!

Thank everyone. I saw the Ikea one when I was there last week and have to say, I wasn't very impressed. It's OK, but nothing special for that much money.

I do like the other ones though

I bought a real one with real tools, just slightly smaller versions, all the tools were about a £1 each in b and q and the workbench is a fold up one off amazon it was about £10.
I use real hammers with real nails and the children love it, I visited a special needs school forest school session and was so inspired by what the children were capable of that I threw all the plastic rubbish away.
Why not go fishing offcuts out of skips and make a workbench with the children, my 8 year old son made a chair which was interesting, but even the youngest children can try to bang a nail in a log.

That is a fad idea, but my oldest mindee is just 2, the others are all 1 or younger! I need something that is left out all the time and I don't think the mix of real tools and babies would work!

The 2yr old did help me build a filing rack yesterday with real screws and a screwdriver. He loved it

I'm pleased too hear it's quite small. I haven't got a very big space for it, so didn't want anything massive!
