Having a baby

Please can someone give me some advice. Thinking of having a baby but I understand that there is a legal requirement as to how much time you must take off work when the baby arrives (all being well that is).
Can someone advise as to how long this is?

It's 2 weeks (4 weeks if you work in a factory).

Thanks Minstrel. I thought that was it but was not too sure.
Now all I need to do is get a diary out, work out holidays etc and see when would be a good time to at least try for a baby as I really don't want to leave parents in the lurch for a long period of time.

How many do you mind for at any one time and how many of your own? I only had one or two, before and after school and a four year old of my own. I finished on my due date (he was two days late then took the two weeks then it was then half term). I like you didn't want to leave families in the lurch. Wish I hadn't rushed back as DD had'nt got used to sharing Mummy with a baby yet and then had the mindees back who wanted their piece of me too.
