I'm a Brownie leader and there's a Food Safety in Catering course coming up organised by girlguiding uk for only £15, as I haven't done a food hygiene course I was thinking of doing this. I asked my inspector if this course would be appropriate as a childminder and she replied something along the lines of 'you only need basic food hygiene & I think there's one coming up with NCMA'.

Amanda & Polly2 (and anyone else) do you know if NCMA are doing this course in South Wales anytime soon (I'm in Newport).

Or, is the Food Safety in Catering ok?!

I replyed on the other thread

I don't know of any other courses running through ncma in our area

There are online ones e.g. http://www.virtual-college.co.uk/pro...-catering.aspx but this one is £25 so may be cheaper for you to do the one you have found

Interesting info here http://www.*************/childminders/...d_hygiene.aspx I was offered a course as part of my start up package so might be worth mentioning to your LA before you pay for one!

I would also check if it is a requirement to have a certificate by your environmental health team. When I had my EH inspection she was very specific about the course I needed to have attended. Of course this varies from area to area so worthwhile checking out.
