Yay!!! Our caterpillars arrived this morning from insectlore! I expected them to be bigger but they are only the size of grains of rice!!! DD is already intrigued and obsessed with them! Think they are going to be very popular!!!

I had better get on and order mine for this year!
I like to receive them a bit later in the year so they hatch begining/middle of june. You watch they will grow pretty quickly and its facinating. My mindees loved them, the best bit was letting the butterflies go.

The last time we did them we started off with 6, but ended up with 3 - they ate the others  Pretty disgusting, but my boys were fascinated

I was going to do this a couple of years ago but decided it was a little late in the year! However, I think it would be good to do it this year as we are making over our garden area and growing caterpillars would fit nicely. Where do you order them from? And do I order them now, or wait a few weeks?
Thanks
xx

When you buy the voucher for the refill caterpillars I think you can request a date for delivery later on. Well you could last year.
And probably in the full kits too, so not to worry about the weather being warm enough for release.

I have just watched the amazon video and have to say I am not impressed,,, these poor catterpillars are stuck in a jar with a funny substance to eat untill the turn in to cocoons,,, how is this teaching the children about the catterpillars,,, how many catterpillars in the wild eat brown gunk? I thought it was gonna be good and that the catterpillars could live in the cage thingy and eat normal foods like cabbage etc ,,, do they have to be in this jar?
