I've been suffering recently from what I can only describe as children having a lack of respect for my house, children and property! It's generally 2 after school kids who are both 6. Up till now I haven't felt it necessary to have 'house rules' but I now think this may be a good time to introduce them.

I had the idea to write my rules using the letters of RESPECT so that they would be easy to remember and display and there wouldn't be too many for them to cope with. The problem is I'm having trouble wording them so they fit the right letters!!

I'm thinking along the lines of:

treating toys properly
being nice to others
saying please and thank you
taking shoes off at the door
not climbing on the furniture

can anyone help with some wording? I want them to be quite short so they are easily memorable!

introduce some extra words like:

remember to always be nice to each other
everybody should treat each other .......

etc, etc.

does that help:)

We used to have these at my nursery:

We are kind to our friends
We share the toys
We look after our toys
We look after our books
We use our walking feet indoors
We use our quiet voices indoors

I think that was all... and we talked about them often, "how can we look after the books?" or "What might happen if we run indoors?" etc

We made them into a booklet with photos and pictures drawn by the children.

I had the same issue a while ago, and i got all the children to sit with me, and we discussed what house rules we would like in place, to make it a nice, happy and safe place for everybody.

We then went to the computer and chose the wording, colour, font and general design and they all chose cartoon pictures that reflected what the wording said, so that even the little children understood.
We then had it laminated and stuck up.

They have not been angels since, but their behaviour has certainly improved :clapping:

I was thinking along those lines, but was trying to find something totally different for the E, it works though and I totally agree with the statement! :D Pinch away.
