Has anyone heard about this, I heard it through the grapevine and wanting to find out more!

Yes - if you use a digital camera or phone to take pics of the children then you should register with the Independant Commisioner's Office. There is an article about it in the current Who Minds magazine and online at ncma's website.

If you store information about the children on a computer then you should register with the Data Protection Office too :)

Been around for ages. Costs about £35 I think for a year. Might be less though as my memory is going.

what if you use a disposable camera?

You need to ring them and check - 0303 123 1113 / 9-5 Mon - Fri.

The vast majority of childminders have to register - even if you just type a letter on a computer or do a newsletter featuring a child's name.

it's not just for using a digital camera.

Oh and you still have to process the pictures so yes I think you'd need to register.

Hth :D
