hi all,

i was thinking of offering a morning session, afternoon session or full day session as opposed to an hourly rate.

i was planning on 730-12 and then 12-6 but as i can only have 1 u5 place, i was concerned if the morning parent was late and arrived to collect child after afternoon session arrived.

Hmmm you really do need to have a time break between sessions as you are illegal and not insured if you go over numbers.

It is very hard when you can only have one child in Eyfs... how about 730 - 12 and 1 - 6... but you can do a wrap around for lunch if a parent wants 730 - 1230 for example.

I would wait and see if parents want those hours first though! You might find they want say 930 - 3... then you'd have to come up with a different rate.

hth :D

I tried sessions . It hasn't worked for my business. Morning sessions wanted no takers for afternoons so now do minimum of 5 hrs a day at £22.50. 8 hrs for £27.50 or my full day rate for 10 hrs is £30 so I don't lose as much if a part day is used.I agree with giving at least half an hour between sessions if thats the way you want to go.

I use an hourly rate and then a daily rate (8-6) for any child needing 3 or more days a week as our hourly rate can work out quite a lot if a parent wants 4/5 days a week.

I would probably use a min fee/amount of hours though if I only had the one space

thank you for your advice, i think i'll back to an hourly rate fee for my eyfs place with a min number of hours and a before and after school fee for school children

It wouldn't work for me mainly because others don't work like this and so parents could probably find somewhere where they would only have to pay for what they were using.

I charge for a full day (8-6) no matter how many hrs they want cos if I have someone who wants 10-5 your mising out on 3hrs of fees in that one day, and if this happened on say 3 days a week I'd miss out on 9hrs, nearly a whole day.
This seems to work for me but a good childminders (or any) with availability are hard to come by round here!
