hi everyone..

both of the 16 month olds I have would happily sleep all morning so I let them.. lots of times we go to groups and they sleep right through them.. as such they miss socialising, painting, singing and other activities..

In the afternoon after lunch when everyone else wants to relax for 45 mins or so.. the babes want to play, pull off the 3yo's socks and generally want action.

this also means I get no down time at all from 7.30 to 5.30...

I wondered what everyone else does.. do you let everyone sleep when they want?.. or do you let them have a cat-nap in morn and a longer nap in afternoon.. if you do this do you get parents permission first?

I ask because I know different people do things differently in my area ...

I hope you all have a Happy Valentines Day xx:)

i would let them just have a 30 min sleep in the morn then wake them up for activities, then a longer sleep after lunch. i do this with my LO

i know we are supposed to let them sleep when they want but its such a shame when they miss out on the good things! Gives you a break too

When Iv had youngsters that sleep in the morning they also sleep in the afternoon. Could you let them have a shorter sleep in the morning? They usually move into one sleep in the afternoon when they get a bit older - can they be kept awake till after lunch?

I would be inclined to try and keep them going in the morning even if it meant leaving toddlers a little early. Give them an early lunch, I know one cm who had this and the los had lunch at 11.30 so they had a sleep before the school run at 3pm

I've got two 16 month olds and I go to all activities in the morning.

We comenhome and they have their lunch about 11.30 am. They then both go to sleep. One sleeps for about an hour. The other one can sleep unto 2 1/2 hours.

I quite often have to wake her up to do the afternoon school run.

What time do they sleep at home?
One of my mindees used to sleep in the morning and one in the afternoon, so that's what we did here too. Now the morning sleeper has changed to afternoon. I just to what the parents ask me to- if it was becoming a problem with going to groups etc i'd maybe have a chat and see if they would mind me moving the sleep time slightly. Although if my son is anything to go by, they will sleep when they are ready!

The lo I have sleeps in the afternoon for about 2 hours

We do everything in the mornings.

On a Monday I give her lunch at 11.30 ish so that she can get a sleep before another mindee turns at 1.30. I like them to be able to play together

most of mine have a sleep after lunch at 12.30/1.00. The ones that don't have tv time or free play, something quiet and easy. I work from 7.30 - 6.30 monday to friday so we need this down time. Also means that we have a nice morning together xx

Same here with one of mine (18mths) she usually has a sleep after lunch for about 2 hrs. The other 16mth old also has a sleep after lunch. We do lots in the mornings and then after lunch is quiet and then it all starts again when we get back in from the school run.
I would maybe see if they can have a bit of a cat nap in the morning and then a proper sleep after lunch although if they're anything like a LO I used to look after if she didn't want to wake up there was nothing you could do to keep her awake

mindee N aged 1yrs will sleep all monring if I let (which I do some time on a Friday as he goes home at 1.30pm) but I will let him have about an hr in the moning & he will have a sleep in the afternoon for about 2hrs.
I do like the after noon naps means I have some me time, can clean up kitchen etc.
Soon I N is leaving so will have twins 4 morings from 8.30 - 1pm so will have loads of time free
