Hi
I have had an enquiry and if I was to have there child I would have to pick him up. They live 18 miles away. How much do I charge for mileage and can you take into account wear and tear.

Thank you in advance for any advise.

you can either charge milage or a percentage cost to run the car, for example if you use the car 50/50 between personal use and childminding you can put 1/2 of all your bills through for the car (petrol, mot etc) or you cliam a milage allowance (Think 35p???) for number of miles you do just for childminding.

You have to choose one and it's for the lifetime of the car, you can't swap when circumstances change etc.

you can't charge parent for child to be ferried in car as takes you into taxi territory you need to add it to minding costs iyswim

you cant charge the parents mileage as you will then be classed as a taxi.

the mileage allowance is .40p per mile.

As Aly says, if you charge the parents for mileage you might be classed as ataxi, making your insurance void. It might be better to incorporate the extra cost into your hourly rate, and charge from when you leave, not when you collect the child, IYSWIM :)

Mileage costs is .40p per mile and this includes everything (apart from a valet)

alternatively if you use your car alot and can provide full accounts for the car then you can claim for each and every expenses pro rata and alsoa written down value each year

You can't charge .40p per mile, you can claim it but not charge it as you would be classed as a taxi then.
