It's probably a how long is piece of string question I know but does anyone have any rough idea? I'm starting a new job Monday but have just applied to Ofsted so will need to try and take some time off for the inspection?

I think mine was about 2 hours.

Then there was the 60 hr week before hand getting the house looking clean and tidy!!! It hasn't been as clean again since!

Good luck with it all.

My inspection took 3 hours, but i know that some only take an hour and others over 3 hours, so it is difficult to say x

Good luck for when the time comes

Hi it depends on your inspector and how long she takes to get through everything :)

Thanks everyone, it's difficult since I'm starting a new temp admin job Monday but already have a holiday booked for a fornights time as we're going away for a week, I thought it may be a bit cheeky to ask for another whole day off but looks like I'll have to really :( Ah well, nevermind.

I'd be tempted to ask for a day - you just never know! Good luck! :D

I would ask her when she rings up to make the appointment if she hasn't already, and tell her you will need to take some time off work. Mine was here from 2 1/2 hours.

My inspector told me she would be here for 2 hours, ended up as 3 hours because we were chatting. :D

Good luck with your new job and good luck with your registration if you go ahead with it

I would ask for a day off work - they are only there for a few hours but may not give you a set time - they could say morning or afternoon for example - or come earlier than arranged so better to be safe than sorry

I'd take the day off work mine took 2 hours but my hubby's took 5 long hours because the inspector was so useless and kept asking the same questions!
