As I start 'properly' this week coming up I figured it's time to implement that thing you all do called 'planning'. I thought a animal and bird theme would cover lots of bases with the babies (9m and 7m) and at least I can do a bit with them. I've got loads of songs and books I can use, a trip to feed the ducks, painting/colouring animal and bird pictures, peek-a-boo with stuffed animals and playing with toy ducks in some very shallow water.

But I could really do with some other ideas for this theme to do with my babies as I'm hoping to make it last all this half term.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tbh,for babies 9months and 7months, it's not necessary to do planning to themes...

Just watch what takes their fancies and plan to their individual likes and interests. So if the 9m old likes ducks, then by all means plan to sing some duck songs and rhymes and show her how to waddle her bum... if the 7m old enjoys chewiing the stuffed animals, then she might like a cd of animal songs on in the background... that sort of thing for under 3s really.

I would record it by writing down the baby's interests on an observation form (you can design something very simple of your own or there are useful ideas on the EYFS cdrom) and put the ideas for 'planning' down as next steps.

Hope this helps :D

I think all the stuff you are doing anyway sound fine

If you look at the links and adapt them to suit the little ones or to give you ideas - thats what I would do anyway

I think the ideas you've already got are lovely - with babies this age i wouldn't do any formal planning at all

Hope you have lots of fun

Thank you all very much for the input. I think I feel slightly as though I'm not doing enough because I only have the babies for now and there's so little formal stuff I can do. I don't want the dreaded OFSTED to think I'm being slack!
Still not had my EYFS pack delivered :(

You're all stars x

Keep a list of the sorts of things you are doing with the babies and take some photos as you go along - these will show Ofsted what you're doing
