Housing benefit and working tax credit

hi,
I am a single mum. If I earn about 6000 a year, does the amount of HB and Wtc be calculated on basis of 6000 or the amount after expenses had been deducted (lets say 4000)?

I know that WTC is after expenses but can't help with the other sorry

When i started minding i informed housing benefit and WTC that i would be earning £100 p/w so 5200 a year. This had no effect on the amount of HB or WTC i got. :thumbsup:
