My teenage daughter has announced that she is pregnant - yikes! As she will be living with me when she has the new baby will this affect the number of children I can mind i.e. can a child other than your own living in the house affect numbers if its mother is there to look after it?

It shouldn't affect your numbers if you are not responsible for the care of the child.

If mum is there and is responsible for the child then no the baby won't be included in your numbers.

If mum is out and you are caring (are responsible) for the baby then yes that baby will come into your numbers!

If there was ever a good time for a teenager to get pregnant it has to be when their mother and aunt are setting up a childminding business and the house will be fully childproofed and full of child friendly stuff.:)

Nearer the time, I would ring Ofsted and see what they say about ratios - it might be useful to get it in writing, in case of any future come-back.
