I have a mum bringing lo age 1+1/2 for a settling in session on friday, 10-12 and she is staying with lo.

I will have dd age 2 and nephew age 1 there, dd is playing up a bit lately and I'm not sure how to handle this session.

Do I take control or do I let mum take control. I was a bit worried at their 1st visit that I didn't interact with lo enough because both parents were there and I had my hands full with the other two.

They are really keen for me to have lo and i am really excited as he is lovely but just a bit nervous.

Any tips from you pro's:thumbsup:

I encourage parents to stay for a little while to see their child settled then to pop to the shops or something for an hour or so.

I don't feel that children do very well in settling in sessions when parents are here all the time because boundaries get blurred about who is in charge.

However if mum is intent on staying just explain to her that you need to be in charge because it's your insurance.

Good luck! :D
