Hi All,
Firstly I want to say thank you to you all with all the good advice on this forum my first inspection on Wednesday went extermely well.
I was very nervous before she came as I did not know what to expect and it was only my fourth day of being a childminder. When she arrived she was very nice and immediately I felt at ease. I carried on as if she was not here she saw me play acting pirates and mermaids with one of my mindees. My mindee even put the baddie pirate hat on her head at one stage. My inspector said I was very organised, all my paper work was fantastic. She was impressed with the close relationship I had with my mindee bearing in mind I had only started minding him on Monday. She said she wished there were childminders like me around when she needed them for her children which I thought was a huge complement. My inspector said my report is going to be very very positive if there was a grade between good and outstanding she would grade me that. For this inspection she is going to grade me good but she said she would expect me to be outstanding next time. The only two things that let me down are:
1. I was missing wording on my late child policy stating if the children are not collected by a certain time and the parents have not called that you would have to call social services. (if anyone has an inspection coming up ensure this is stated as it is a requirement)
2. I need to get toys that are multicultural and show positive images of disabilities (I knew this would come up as like I say I have only started so have the minimum toys at present and did not expect to be inspected this quickly)
I am very pleased with myself to have achieved such a good grade and being only 4 days into the job. I want to say thank you to everyone on here again as it has helped me very much.
My inspector did say they need to have everyone inspected before sept when EYFS comes into place and then she thinks everyone will be inspected again to ensure they are using it correctly.
