If you're anything like me then you get all hot and bothered at even the thought of meeting with a parent. Literally, I get flushed cheeks and sweaty hands!

I'm pretty good at preparing answers and have my paperwork to show, down to a fine art but i always get so lost in the stress of it all that i forget to ask the parents anything back.

So i thought i would ask all you lovely minders to help me compile a list of questions that i (and others) should be asking on the initial meeting. Not all the details like emergency contacts etc but maybe things that will help you make your decision about whether to take them on in the first place?

I'll start.....

Has the child even been in childcare before?

what does your child like to do/play with?
what are their favourite foods?
Anything that upsets them? If they do get upset, what is the best way to comfort them?
Do they like to be outdoors?
Sleep routine during the day?

Just follow on from info given. Show an interest in their child and they'll happily chat away.

Good luck x
