Hi,

you could also print their names in large bold letters on paper, laminate them, then leave them with some paperclips and tracing paper and chow the children how to clip the tracing paper over their names, trace it and then remove and glue to the back of their pictures to let them label their things independently!

make sure you have it written in lots of places with visible letters/charts around.

I have laminated place cards for the table and get the kids to hand them out so they start to recognise their letters. Playing games like alphabet lotto or letter matching games also helps. The more they recognise letters and shapes relevant to them the more they will want to try to write it.

If I'm talking rubbish here and you've done all this already and children are wanting to write their names then just encourage it, give them a namecard to 'copy' when they write their names on their work/pictures or ask them to write up their name on a board when they arrive??
