What about street maps that the children can plot their houses and other places they visit. Its very early but I will give it some more thought.

What about making a scrap book or an information book about Swindon with the children?

You could cut pic out of the local paper, cut pics out from leaflets from tourist info and library, take photos of places the children decide on and put them all in the scrap book. Ask the children to tell you what they like about the area, where they go and write it all down in there?

I remember doing about Isambard Kingdom Brunel at school!

Railways can be a topic in itself.. trackoff stuff is wonderful, there's Underground Ernie with a lot of marketing and it's own website, a train in Postman Pat , isn't there a guy who works on the buffet car in that dreadful Scottish programme? And of course all the characters from Thomas...

This is a good place to start -

Some nice general vehicle stuff here -

Some train stuff here -

Then train song -

Make a train with big boxes, make your own tickets, plan journeys using maps...

My favourite train poem...
