My friend who is a childminder is ill at the moment and cannot work next week. Is it likely that Ofsted would give me permission to look after her mindee? The child knows me really well and his parents have just asked if I could have him for 3 days or until childminder is well again. They don't have family who can help out and don't want to send him to someone he doesn't know.

I would say yes - just make sure you put urgent and the date needed in the subject box when you email.

Thanks for your quick reply. I've told parents i will do my best to get permission but can't have him unless Ofsted say it's ok.

I would phone them and ask. They will grant emergency variations over the phone without the need for all the paperwork sometimes.

Think you have a good chance - phone Ofsted and ask - or do online form put urgent and date needed - someone should phone back today.

Ofsted agreed my variation to cover another childminders illness. He said that they wouldn't normally allow it but still gave permission :)
