Hi any advice or suggestions for buggies that can cope with the snow and ice please! At the moment I am watching a jane powertwin 3 wheeler double buggy and Instep Nipper double, i also need a nice cosy single buggy suitable for a small 7 month old, preferably that can face either way but that can cope with the weather, not too pricey or bulky. I was thinking of getting a more tradtional pram/pushchair with big fixed wheels like a mamas and papas? any suggestions welcome thanks:)

My mothercare double was ok the other day except going downhill when it was a bit like a ski slope with me hanging on the back!

The wheels were nice and bit to cut through the snow :D

I prefer the P&T when its not too deep but I also have the Jane Powertwin 3 wheeler which is heavy but easy to push too. I leave it up in the garage.

I have a single Jane powertrack - 2nd hand from ebay - a dream to push. Came with the matrix car seat which lies flat as a small pram top for little ones.

Worth looking out for 2nd hand:thumbsup:

My phil & teds coped well in the snow, it also serves as a single so would save buying 2.

I have a traditional style pram/ pushchair with big wheels, it's great in the snow. However, I am considering getting a toddler seat that I can attach to my wooden sledge (will make it more like a sleigh) for lo's I mind. :)

I have an urban detour,, I loved it so much I bought the double too,,both of wich are great in the snow, I orginaly bought them for walking the dog over the feilds and woods but now use the single all the time,, it is heavy to lift in and out of the car and dosent fold particuarly small but I love it,, its so easy to push.

I've been out with the double nipper today and that was fine.

During the snowy period earlier this year I was using my Mothercare Urban Detour single and it was great in the snow. I saw other childminders trying to push their MacLaren twin pushchairs without success. As my double was a MacLaren Twin Techno I resolved to buy a double with similar wheels to the Urban Detour before this winter. AFAIK the Urban Detour is no longer made and it would be too wide for most doors anyhow. So in June I bought the Out 'n' About Nipper Twin. I have been using it this week and it's just fine on the snow. I'd recommend it.

I too loved my urban detour, it was so easy to push and handled well in the snow. i had to get rid of it in the summer though as it was falling apart, luckily i have no babies or toddlers needing prams just now!

as a recovering pramaholic i recomend the following.....

Phil & teds converts from a single to a double, 3 wheeler great on snow & sand (mine recently survived 2 weeks in egypt & is being used in the snow now :) ) .....can be used up to age 5 if you have a heavy toddler or child needs help with walking.

if space is not an issue then a Quinny (or maxi cosi for older models) Speedi, nice wide seat, cocoon/mummy style footmuff, hand break for slowing down on ice, lie flat for babes (car seat, carrycot compatible)
