Does anyone know if you have to childmind from a house or if you could do it from a empty shop premise if it was made suitable?

No you can't.

Childminding is be it'svery nature, caring for children in your home. Any other premises would be classed as a nursery.

I also don't see how it would be profitable baring in mind the huge outgoings compared to the relatively small amount of children you would be able to care for.

I'm not sure if it's differet in Scotland, but 3 cms near me childmind together from the church, it is in the Manse I think so home like, but not their homes iyswim!
