get to you!
the only parents looking for childminders on childcare.co.uk near me are always 10-13 miles aways! And i don't think people will travel that far to drop off before work!
What' the furthest your mindees come?

Most of mine are from the village I live in, only one lives in next village about 5miles away as she has to pass my house to get to work

2 of mine are in the same village. The 2 siblings live in town about 5 miles away - mum drives them all the way out here, then back into town (past their house) and 5 miles further on to work:eek:

about 7 miles.
Distance does put some people off if there are others closer I think:o

All mine are within walking distance ..... the one that has just moved to London lived only 5 doors away ( mum didn't even realise until she rang to come and see me and i said my address!!!) she did say she had often seen me walking past with all my little ones and they all looked so happy .. ahhhh !
The furthest one away has been a 30 min drive .

Where I lived before they ranged from 2-3 mins walk to 3 miles. When i first moved one of my mindees came with so mum was driving 10 miles to get here but it was the mid way point of a 20 mile journey to work :D
At the moment 1 and a bit miles 10 mins toddler walk, to next door but one.

Mine do travel up to 8 miles.
But if parents will travel depends on where they work, as can drop off on way to work. Also if you are near a train station that can make a difference for some. Others will travel out of their way if you are just what they are looking for.
Once children are in school, things change a bit - and you need to be aware in case they want you to do a school run to their local school.

Yep - agree with Penny on this one. I have thats a 15 mile round trip and I have to do the pick ups   I dont mind the travelling but its very time consuming and limits the amount of activities etc you can do. I always think its worth asking as it does depend on where they work. Im very close to a dual carriageway that leads to all the cities and towns near us so lots of people pass by me but most do tend to try and get closer to home, possibly so the lo's have more local friends at their minders. xx

Mine has varied over the years from people that have lived the other side of the town (so I was one of the furthest minders from their house but they wanted me), to towns 15 miles away, a town 30 miles away and some that I could see their houses from my upstairs windows or that lived within a 2 minute walk.....

I have one from about 2 miles away but next town, 1 from just down the road, 2 (siblings) from 6 miles away but I already knew mum and 1 from my village but handed over at school after drop off so all fairly local. I'm loosing the 2 siblings at Christmas and replacing them with another 1 from my village but again a school handover, location plays a huge part imo.

about 15 miles but they work 2 mins away from my house.
I have a new one starting next year and they live about 50 miles away but will also be working round the corner. They want a minder near work so that mum is close to the baby
