HELLO,

well i had a call from a polish family, FRIDAY and they came round SATAURDAY
and we signed the contract there and then,
which is great, for me but the 2 years old dont speak much english,
i have asked them for words and how you say them, and if possible pictures to,.
I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas about thyemes, books, etc to help her settle in.

and to help me understand what she is wanting or asking,

thank you

I would use a series of pictures for common things like toilet or nappy, drink, food etc.

Also you could include some simple Makaton signs as you are talking because they tend to relate directly to what is being said.

You can also get 'first 100 words' books from places like Amazon :D

Amazon have Usborne books 'first 1000 words in Polish' for £5.28.

I bought the French version as I have a 1 yr old starting whose mum speaks french at home.

Go through the forum shop and it will help the forum too

We have quite a large polish community here and our library has a lot of dual language books, we have picked some up in the past, just cos we have liked the look of the story. So ask at yours
