Hi

I have my pre-reg visit arranged for 1 weeks time. I was advised by my local childminding council that the only things Mrs O will be looking for in terms of paperwork will be safeguarding policy, complaints procedure & complaints record, my risk assessment and child record forms. Is this the minimum required, or just what is sensible to aim for until after registration?

Also does anyone know if it is essential to have the full report, or just the leaflet on safeguarding children?

Thanks for your help :)

I'm not sure what the minimum requirements are. I personally arranged for all my paperwork to be in place prior to my pre-reg visit, ie. all policies/permission forms etc. You should have a separate complaints file, and I also have a separate safeguarding file with a copy of my policy, the booklet and a record of concern form.

I would also make sure you have at least done a full risk assessment for your home and garden.

For your pre-reg you need to read through the booklet which Ofsted sent you and make sure you understand the questions you might be asked.

you need to think about how you are going to run your provision - what you might need to do to get started.

This might include writing the statutory policies and procedures -

Ensuring you have the required written risk assessments in place -

Ensuring you are aware of and ready to meet the requirements for paperwork -

Thinking about how you might advertise and get work once registered...

Making a wish list of things you will need...

Making your house safe - locks on kitchen cupboards, door hooks for rooms you do not want to use, removing locks from bathroom doors if children might get locked in etc.

Good luck! :D

Hia, didnt want to read and run as have just gone through reg myself but Sarah is bang on (as always!) but one thing I have noticed on here re visits is that its a case of 'how long is a piece of string'. I had all my paperwork done and my Mrs O wasnt the slightest bit interested! All she did was ask me questions, she didnt want to look at anything at all, but they are all so different its unreal. The best advice I can offer is basically be prepared for anything and then you can be sure you havent missed anything out!! and please dont panic - its no where near as scary as you anticipate it will be!! xxx
