I am closed the whole school hols as most of my mindees are TTO (Term time only) Even before this, I took the week between xmas and new year as when I started, the parents were off but still sent their children so they could go shopping!
Take the holiday and enjoy it with your family.

You've made a good start there!

There are a couple more that are statutory. Have a look at this thread -

http://www.childmindinghelp.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=45805

I'd wait with the rest and take it one step at a time.

I am sure your coordinator will give you lots of help but we're here if you need us too! :D

First year I worked I closed for 2 days - Christmas day and boxing day
Last year I closed for one week
This year I'm closing for 8 working days (after working for 9 months with no break)

I have learned the hard way that working every hour God sends our way doesn't make people think any more of you. You have to always put your own families first because if you don't you end up feeling bitter and resentful towards the parents who take you for granted (not all of them do, but some definitely do).

Don't let this put you off, there are some fabulous parents out there, just go into the job with your eyes open, lol! ;)

Good luck x
