I wouldnt worry too much for under ones, maybe just stories or scribbling on diwali colouring sheets, sorry, not great on ideas!!!!

I wouldn't worry either about that age either - maybe just some Indian background music and movement?

There is quite a good short video clip on Cbeebies which you could watch to give you ideas and then either just implement some of them with older children if you mind any or do yourself and just let the under one watch / soak in what you are doing - for example lighting a diva. If your under one enjoys short periods of television, sit him / her on your lap to watch sippets that you select as suitable from the clip.

Toddlers can have good fun with coloured rice and make patterns

Have a look at www.activityvillage.co.uk too as they always have something and dltkkids too

last year i borrowed sensory light rods etc from the toy library for the youngest mindee to explore to fit in with the festival of lights - he also enjoyed coloured rice on the highchair tray to make marks in.

Little ones might enjoy a music session with indian music, instruments & coloured scarves to wave around.

With my little ones, I drew around their hands. They then pasted glue over them and sprinkled with different coloured glitter.
When dry I cut them out and made a wreath from the hands to hang on the wall.

It looked very colourful
