Autumn

ACTIVITY

Children to create autumn pictures by rolling conkers in paint over a piece of white A4 card. Adult to blu-tack card in a tray. Children to choose three autumn colours from red, orange, green, brown and yellow. Adult to put a blob of chosen colours anywhere on the page. Children to roll conkers around the tray. Pictures mounted and put on autumn colours display.

Autumn Crowns
Invite children to collect natural and craft materials to make an autumn crowns to wear in Harvest/ Festival assembly (older children). Talk to the children about their creations.



Collecting and Identifying Leaves
Go on a walk around the field looking for leaves. Use the ‘Nature Detective’ laminated sheets to identify some of the leaves collected.

Making Autumn Shakers
Children make shakers with clear plastic cups by adding conkers, dried peas, barley and beans, and orange and red glitter then sealing.

Making Vegetable Soup
Children chop vegetables to make a vegetable soup

Squirrels
Counting poem

Five little squirrels sitting in a tree.
The first one said, "What do I see?"
The second one said, "Some nuts on the ground."
The third one said, "Those nuts I found."
The fourth one said, "I'll race you there."
The Fifth one said, "All right, that's fair."
So they shook their tails and ran with glee.
To the nuts that lay at the foot of the tree.
