I need some advice on the forms

I want to care for children 0-8 years old but confused where it says do I want to join the voluntary part of childcare - exactly what does that mean? Does it mean that they could put a child with me and I wont get paid???

Thanks

The Voluntary register is for those who wish to care for children over the age of 8.

Ofsted seperate it into two categories:

COMPULSORY...i.e. you MUST be registered with Ofsted to care for children under 8 years old.

VOLUNTARY...as you do not need to be registered to care for over 8 years old, it is 'good practice' to be registered with them voluntarily.

Hope this clarifies for you

Also I believe if you are not on the voluntary register, parents can't claim tax credits using your number for their over 8's? This maybe wrong but it is what I have been told previously??

Anyone please feel free to correct me :D
