Hi

I'm rubbish at working out stuff and need some help with working out holiday entitlment.

Basically i take 4 weeks off unpaid a year, in december i'm going on maternity leave for 6 weeks and thought it might be a good idea to start the holiday from scratch when i get back as at the moment all the parents start at different times, the holiday starts from the month their contract started. 2 of my contracts start from september so i can work that one out and i will try not to take any holiday until my mat leave but the other 2 i don't know how to work out.

If i give you the month they started can someone help with working out how much holiday they should have from then until december :D

11th february
23rd may

I'm starting maternity leave from 13th december. Thanks so much, i don't have a clue how to work this out :) It will also help so i can either pay them back if i've taken too much by then or take the rest.

Thank you xxxx

I just work on a calendar year Jan to Dec. Wouldn't it be too confusing to work it all out based on when mindees start? I don't state how much holiday I will take just that I will give min of 4 weeks notice. Between Oct 2009 and Jan 2011 I will have only taken 15 days. I don't charge for my hols

basically you take the 20 days and divide by 12 calendar months, this gives you days off per month that you accrue.

therefore for every full month you work you would be entited to 1.667 days off.

11 feb-13dec = 10 months x 1.667 =16.67 days off (either round down to 16.5 days or up to 17 days)

23rd may-13th dec = 6.5 months x 1.667 = 10.84 days (round up to 11 days or down to 10.5)

its not an exact calculation but its the simplist way and really cant see parents checking.

hope it makes sense. x
