Hi

We had a great free day out today, i live in surrey near an airport for small planes and helicoptors. There is a cafe which you can sit in and a viewing area.

We sat and watched planes and helicoptors go off all morning and all it cost me was the price of a coffee :) Not sure if you have something similar nearby.

Have you tried your local library or museum? Ours often put on activity sessions that are either free or very cheap.

We've also made good use of the children's centre & SureStart (though they don't always encourge cms to go).

Or how about getting together with other cms & organising a teddy bears picnic. You could each organise a game for the children to play.

Have you looked on your local Netmums places to go section? They might have some suggestions.

These aren't all day activities but get you out for a while. We did them both last week and all the children enjoyed it.

Blackberry picking. You could also turn that into a baking activity after with older children.

Trip to the pet shop. We have a pets at home locally and the children really enjoyed looking at all the animals.
