Hello
I am thinking of doing the above course but I will only be able to start in September 2011, due to the course being full time (3 days college, 2 days placement). I was wondering if anyone else on the forum is doing this course and whether it is hard going - I am 33 with 3 young children but it is a long time since I studied for anything....
I was hoping to become a childminder but that option is looking less likely, so I am hoping to work towards being a nursery/pre-school assistant.
Can anyone advise me about this course or if there is any courses which they think would be better to achieve a job in childcare.
Thanks in advance,
Alicia

I did mine with Smart Training, it was free and only had to do one day a month (A saturday).

I was looking into doing this but then realised there was alot of college time starting at 4pm which wouldn't work for me. I'm now going to do NVQ3 CCLD would that not be an option for you? Or are you set on this1 The 1 Sat a month sounds good tho x

Is this the same as the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development??

This is the new level 3 diploma.

http://www.cwdcouncil.org.uk/qualifications/level-3-diploma-for-the-children-young-peoples-workforce

It is workplace based so you would be able to childmind.

It will also prepare you for work elsewhere if that is your aim.

I hope this helps :D
