Just wanted everyone else's view on clearing drives during bad weather.

I've been told (not sure if it's true or not) that if you clear your drive of snow or ice and someone falls on it then you are liable if they sue. However, if you have not touched the snow/ice then it is considered an act of nature and they cannot sue.

With the bad weather upon us I just wondered where we stood if we clear our drives and a parent or child slips on it.

i had not heard this but would like to know what others do.

my partner went out to work early yesterday morning and nearly slipped on our path. he put salt on it and i put a sign up in the window warning parents.

i will be interested to see what everyone else does

Oh no

More for us to worry about ?

I do not have a clue - you can sue for anything these days though

Thought it would be down to common sense really

Or .......

Tell parents they are not allowed on the drive or paths - guess they will have to learn to fly or just throw the kids to you ha

Found this, it applies more to clearing the pavement than your own drive:

Wow! You have to be so careful these days! It's quite scarey isn't it.

Oh God we will be frightened by our own shadows soon. Do you think our liability insurance will cover us if we clear our paths and drives and someone still slips? Surely thats what we pay for ?

I've done some research and had a play with ideas for this... popped it in 'Paperwork' and the update for my 'Risk Assessments' which is due out soon. Must reference Pauline as it was her idea that started me off! Hope it helps :)
