I am losing my first 2 children at the end of the month and would like to know if you usually give the learning journal to parents as a keepsake or keep for your own records??

Any advice please - anything else I should do for leavers?

Thanks Hayley x

I gave the parents their child's learning journey to keep.

Her mum said that if I needed it for an Ofsted she would let me have it back for evidence if I wanted.

correct me if i am wrong anybody but i think we are supposed to give to parents when child leaves. it really belongs to them and it usually dependant on age of child, it goes up to school with them so teacher can get an idear of childs development ( then they get it back) if not going to school yet keep sake for mum or to show other setting.

Yes you give parents a copy of the child's learning journey and any photos, models or other things belonging to the child.

Ofsted are not interested in children who are no longer registered with you so will only look at current LJs.

You need to put away other paperwork - contracts, permissions, attendance registers, medication stuff etc for 21 years.

Hth :D
