Hiya, just wondered what computer software or online sites there are for Childminders?
I dont really know what Im looking for, but thought doing obs. planning etc. online would be easier, and if there was a site that provided the base for this so if Ofsted change things etc. we would automatically be updated and the paperwork would be changed for us etc.
Would also save on paper laying around on the table!

Anyone seen anything like this?
Would this is also include things registers/fire drills/safety check lists etc?

I know it would mean leaving the laptop on all day, and when Ofsted came you would have to log on to show them all the evidence .........

Im sure there are one or two companies offering it for a price, which isnt cheap if I recall.

Dont forget you would need to register for data protection.

I came accross this one:

http://www.childminderssofware.com/ (http://www.******************.com/) not sure of the price, Im just wondering if there are any drawbacks - like if there is a power cut, laptop breaks, access to important information if internet is down - I guess Id need to print copies of the contracts and information forms too so would still have paperwork!

Maybe I need something more for the planning side and policies really so if any changes are made, its someone else that will alter things instead of me panicing!

Hi

The childminder software package is a one off fee of £29.99 my friend is a childminder and she has the software, it has invoices, register, accident & incident, childrens records, contact details, then you also get the EYFS software too - she says its really good - well worth the money!

I believe the Information Commissioners Office has confirmed the fee to be £35 for childminders or similar.

If any information regarding the child is stored on a PC, then I understand we need to register. I have not yet heard from my local county council but I think some letters have recently gone out if you live in Cheshire and East Sussex - I am sure the others will soon follow suit.

All correspondance between me and the parents is done on the PC - invoices, contracts, letters, file notes etc. as well as storing all the photos I take so it seems like registration is not an option - it will be a necessity.

It is of course a business cost so can be offset against your taxable income.
