hello,

I have been childminder for many years but don't have NVQ3 .
Do you know when it will become a "must have" for a childminder?
Is it still funded? Who should I contact to do it?
I am getting a bit worried now as someone told me it is not funded anymore..
thank you

You don't need it at the moment at least. The last govt wanted to aim for us to all have this level by 2015 but to be honest i can't see it being forced on us since there are too many childminders. However, if you are wanting to work towards it then contact your early years department or CDO and there should be no problem getting organised. I would think there is a high chance of funding being available too - will depend on your area - Derbyshire is quite good.

I don't think the new Gov't are going to enforce it.

I do not believe that it will be a "must have" and in fact I do not believe that it should be a "must have". I suspect that it will be a casualty of the new government spending cuts (or at least the funding for it will be) and if the funding is cut it will be virtually impossible for it to be a "must have"

I was told that it will be a "must have" at some point but only for new childminders

It's a must have on my Network but not for other childminders in my area
