I charge time and a half on a Saturday and double time on a Sunday or Bank Holiday (Not that I work weekends or BH's :D )

So that would be £6.25hr Saturday's & £9hr Sunday's and BH's.

It depends how badly you need the work as to wether you stick to your guns or reduce the cost.

Don't sell yourself short though.

I haven't worked a Saturday for years, but I used to charge double time.

I think £40 for 10hrs on a Saturday is very reasonable.

I do not normally work on Saturdays but if I did, my contracts provide for double-time.

no way would I work 10 hours for £40, £80 if it was a regular job, £100 as a one off.

i think you could make the argument that you don't have other work on a saturday therefore technically minimum wage would make it at least £58 for 10 hours.
