The interpretation of ‘before and after a normal school day’ includes school holidays for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage who attend 10 sessions in school. Such children are not regarded as in the early years age group for the purposes of the adult to child ratio. This does not mean that the setting can treat them as over five for the purposes of delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage. Settings will still need to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage for these children in line with the guidance for inspecting provision before or after school or during school holidays for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

It is unlikely that providers will be able to demonstrate rigorous self-evaluation or a sustained capacity for improvement at a post-registration inspection, and this will have an impact on the grades awarded. Unless providers have previous experience in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage, for example because they have another registered setting, it is most unlikely that they will be able to achieve an inspection grade of outstanding.

so unless you can show that you have worked in a previous eyfs setting it is 'most unlikely' that a cm will get outstanding at the first inspection...

plus,

While providers in the private, voluntary and independent sector will not have such targets unless they are in receipt of government funding,

so if you recieve early years funding we have to show sustainability?!??!
I have a wormery and grow fruit and veg, does this mean I can now justify solar panels as expenses lol

Local authorities are increasingly using Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scales (ECERS) with providers to judge the quality of provision. Inspectors should be familiar with this means of assessment.

there is also iters and fccers. iters is the infant and toddler environment rating scale and fccers is the family and children centered environmental rating scale, at the 2 year old pilot event I went to I was given an fccers guidance book. I have been in touch with my network co-ordinator and I am having an fccers audit this month. one of the aspects of it is the provision of block play, I was lucky that I was given a set of community playthings blocks and the kids love them :thumbsup:

this may be the 'new thing' for inspectors to latch onto. childminders can't really do the iters or ecers (i was told that ecers says you have to have 3 different types of block play :eek: ) but we can do fccers...

would be a fantastic tool to talk about in your sef...

I am being thick here but what do you actually mean by block play, also why have we got to be involved with things from the States, we have enough problems with things from here without some of theirs as well:blush:
