Hi all
Just wondering if anyone claims for there pets, like cat food, vaccinations and things like that.
As the cat does keep the mice at bay and free from the children so having a pet is useful after all.
Any idea anybody
Regards
Karen
P.S if you can claim this then i will be on 08/09 accounts:laughing:

I would say no. I dont think this would apply as the cat is not really anything to do with childminding or your business. But then not being pet owner at the moment :( I am probably not the best to answer this.

I don't claim for anything for my pets.

I could be wrong though

You can only claim for things directly related to your childminding business - don't forget, if you are ever questioned, you have to justify every penny you put through your books...

Here's Pauline's link... :D

No....I do not claim for anything for my pets!

After all it is my choice to have them and whether I was minding or not I would still have to feed them, get vaccinations and worming tablets etc.

I would say no too. It is your choice to have a pet and they need food, vaccinations, worming and vet care as part of that choice.

ax deductions are for expenses needed for running your business. I have never claimed for my pets and I had more for the children to play with last time I minded.

No - your pet isnt vaccinated for the childrens sake, this should be done anyway. as well as feeding it lol

I dont think the taxman would take this seriously!

Well thanks for all your reply's, i know you probably cannot claim but thought i would ask anyway.
As one of you said ofsted do expect you to have your animals vaccinated and wormed because of the children, i do that anyway!
Cheers all
