My 12 month old mindee is not yet walking. He cruises the furniture and can walk holding onto my hands. He can stand unaided for a few seconds, all of which is fine.

When he cruises or stands he has both feet flat on the floor. However, when he walks - holding onto me or a baby walker - his right foot touches the floor flatly but his left is always just the tiptoes. I know he's very young but both dad and I have noticed this and I want to keep a close eye on it - it's something to do witht he way he's holding it as well that loks strange but I can't quite place my finger on what it is. Do I write about this in his learning journey - and the fact that Dad and I have discussed - or just make a not to keep in his file with contracts and things?

Thankyou!

I would....I have a child with a Language development issue.
I have spoken to mum and I am monitoring it in his LJ.

Its a way of keeping tabs on his development, to see if there is any improvement. Well thats what I think anyway.

I would make a note for his file, not the learning journey. Note down your concerns and what was discussed, maybe dad can ask the hv to check it out.

write it up as an obsveration adding date, time and parents concerns then add this to the childs contract etc folder rather than the learning journal.

I see the learning journal as 100% possitive showing what the child can do and has achieved and keep concerns seperatly.

Has Dad made an appointment with helath visitor or Dr? they will look into reffering child to a specialist if needed but either way it is worth discussing the issue with another proffessional.

Thank you all! I'll write it up obs style and put it in the file, then, along with plans to encourage more walking and whatnot to monitor.... And I'll talk to whichever parent picks up tonight about seeing the HV if concerned....

Thankyou!
