ours hatched too! can't believe it. One of my mindees only comes on Fridays so he won't see them! I was hoping they'd hold on til Wed! Mother nature:panic: so inconsiderate:laughing:

My instructions said soak a piece of tissue in 10 mls sugar to 250mls water then place on a plate in the net (keep mixture in fridge for replacing the tissue). Also they like old bananas and segments of orange (split them so the juice comes out.

Have you got the paitned ladies - they are lovely arent' they - me and dd were sooo excited!

It's also quite nice to use a pipette to drop the sugar water mixture onto fresh flowers and put them in with the butterflies. We did that last year and the children got to see them drinking the mixture from the flowers as they would do in nature.

arent they so cool!

I had them last year and kept them in the net for 10 days before letting them go as weather was so rubbish.

Got our catterpillers last weds. Don't they grow fast! My feeding instructions say sugar and water. Thanks for the tips regarding oranges and bananas.
Tadpoles are still tadpoles, just bigger. Mindees have taken some home as I have hundreds!
I love this time of year.

oooh! were they OK?? if that's OK I can keep them until fRiday when my mindee comes. He'll be devastated to miss them. I've taken loads of photos, guess it's time to try and upload to the forum - about time I tried after a year:laughing:
