hi there

Just wanted some advice, i have a lady coming to see me tomorrow who is expecting a baby next month. She wants me to care for her baby in November. I am glad to do it, just wondered what everyone did about saving a place if i have chance to fill it before then?

:)

I know you arn't to take a retainer until baby is born - maybe take a deposit for now? :)

You could charge a retainer until she is ready to take up the place but it isn't recommended to make any arrangements until after the baby's birth so if she says tomorrow that she wants you to have the baby then I'd ask her to get back in touch after the baby's born

I agree with Miffy... trouble is November is sooo far away and lots of things can change - both for her and you, between now and then.

Hope the interview goes well! :D

It can't be as bad as Ofsted - they won't stay as long for one thing :)

You'll be fine

I've got somebody wanting to look after their baby when they go back to work in September 2009!! Baby's not due until June.

I think that's too far away to even consider a retainer for - what did you do?

I'm not doing anything until at least the baby's born.

I then might consider a retainer, but to be honest anything could happen between now and then.

I know the Dad of one of my mindees and step-dad to another wants another one, Mum isn't too sure as she hasn't lost the weight from previous pregnancy.

My part-time mindee is nearly 1 and I know for a fact her parents want more, so of course these have priority.

I can't believe she is looking at childcare now. She is a teacher and will be taking a year's maternity leave. She might also decide she doesn't want to go back to work after all.

I dont blame you Jules

Maybe she is just checking out her options at the moment ?

Well she certainly makes a change from the parent who calls in a panic cos they need care starting the next morning!:D
