How about painting a piece of board with blackboard paint and screwing it to the fence panel? Or there are stick on blackboard stickers at B&M or Quality Save. Most of the A frame outdoor blackboards have painting on one side too.

I bought one online, off to see if i can find where from, it is a piece of marine ply so suitable for outdoor use and is about 1.5m square.

I've got the crayola one but as it doesn't fold all my blackboard bit is chipping off. Also had one of those that folds down and turns into a desk (just plastic) I've had for 8 years and it's been outdoors for 3 and it's lasted really well. It's MOLTO (comes with little stool). Recommend that one

My easel (plastic one) lives outside and does OK!

Bit of decent wood nailed to fence/wall
Blackboard paint - give it a few coats

et voila.

I bought one of these larger A frame plastic ones and it goes outside for the summer months and then comes in over winter. It's fine.

Hubby re-claimed a slab of slate from the tip - its set into our decking & makes a fab chalk surface :)

I bought some 'blackboard on a roll' from Ebay, it only cost a few £'s. I stuck it onto a piece of hardboard and hubby screwed it to the fence for me.
