I nip up while the kids are occupied and keep the door ajar so I can hear them

I go to the loo!!!

I know that sounds daft but there are ways and means round it!

Yep, if I need to go then I go. Obviously I would not go whilst the kids are eating their food, or whilst they are using scissors etc, but when nature calls - I answer.

I just go, i have a downstairs loo an i sometimes keep the door ajar.

If i am out i take them all in with me.

At todlers other CM keep an eye on them or they come with me. I have permission for other minders to watch them while i have a wee:D

You go if you need to - just make sure that the children are occupied in a safe area and just go. I am sure you did the same with your own children - if you have them.

Or if they're babies you can take them in with you.... I usually wait until nap time :D

The thought of when to go or not to go has never crossed my mind.

Its not as if Ofsted would be banging on the toilet door saying " do you need any more loo paper, and DONT forget to wash your hands"

You get to know which children you can leave & which you can't.

With most of mine I tell them I'm nipping up to the loo & to sit quietly. They always do. With babies who are crawling/climbing I tend to strap them into the pushchair while I run up.

I have a downstairs loo and if I announce I am going the lil ones will often be at the door knocking on it - so I know exactly where they are

My own DD is the youngest - all the rest are 3-4 so I trust them to be safe whilst I quickly powder my nose ;) Mind you my own two end up following me so I rarely have this time to myself anyway
