Does anyone use these trackers in addition to written observations? What do you think of them are they useful or too much more information? I'm undecided whether to use them too.

I would not use them alone but use them for guidance

They are like tick sheets and its not what Ofsted want to see

Here is some more information in an old thread

I agree with Angel - Ofsted do not like them as they are too much like tick lists...

The best observations are ones you do when you are watching a child playing with a toy or game or interacting with their friends, you jot it down or take a photo, reflect later on what you have seen or heard and plan for the next steps in their learning from what you have just seen.

You cannot do this by using a tick list.

Hope this helps :D

I agree with Angel and Sarah - the trackers are useful as a guide but are not what ofsted want for all observations

i do use them but my friend who has just been inspected was told that they were good but not enough come september.
i don't do enough obs or planning so i am going to have to rethink my practice too
