I have just been registered to provide overnight care and a parent has enquired for a one off night over the weekend when she and her partner go out.

The problem is I have no idea what to charge her. The child is 1 year old and I don't know if she is a good sleeper, she isn't during the day.

What would you charge e.g double time, time and a half?

Thanks

I charge £45 per night for the hours 7pm - 7pm then charge my hourly rate either side and if it was a weekend that would be 1.5 times Mon- Fri rate. You have to remember like you said - you are on call all night - if you fancy that glass of wine - you can't - not that I am an alchoholic  And make sure you know where they are going and have landline number as well as their mobiles - I am sure you would - I've done it and was woken at 5.00am - my kids don't wake up until at least 7.30am on weekends

Thank you for your replies, I have told them £40 from 7pm to 7am then time and a half from 7am.

£40 - £45 sounds very fair.

I have never thought about overnight care however I would want it to be worth my while if I did.
