How soon after registration do i need to start childminding

Hello folks, I have my registration visit in mid May and wondered how long after recieving my registration I need to start childminding. My current job has just offered me redundancy but I will hopefully get my cert in July, then start minding in early jan2011. Do you think my council would let medo this? Thank you for reading, any advice appreciated!

I left it even later than this. I registered in June 08, left work in December 08 and started minding in April 09. You will need to keep Ofsted informed once registered as they will keep trying to book your inspection. Just say you have no mindees on your books when they call and they will postpone for a few months.

I didn't start minding til about 6 mths after I registered. I'd originally planned to start in Jan 10, got registered Oct 09, but it took a while to get mindees in!

I ahve been registered for a year but not started minding yet. Its a similar situation as I've been waiting to be offered redundancy. As long as you have had at least one child on your books in the first 3 years after being registered, you can wait as long as you want.
