I also have twins and they are polish, mine are 15 months, probably dont understand a word im saying as both parents speak polish at home but they took a little while to settle in and we get on brilliant now.

I do have trouble with them crying when people leave or I leave the room and thats because granny stayed for a year when they were born but they are slowly getting better.

Im sure you will be fine, I like you worried alot and wondered if Id done the right thing but Im loving it.:)

sarah thanks..good to hear! my parents speak it at home but are happy for them to learn english so will see how it goes. How do you find feeding them? what do they eat? i have a long list which seems fine!

My twins are with me to learn english and socialise as they dont really need me, ive read up because they are learning polish and english at the time time they will be slower in speech and best if parents carry on speaking polish at home and I speak english.

She sends food that she makes for them and its something like casserole or some things I have no idea, sometimes very fishy, they only eat polish food but they dont have a problem with me feeding them english food. Snacks are pretzels, big puffy crisps, I also give them fruit. They dont always eat the food she provides, but will always eat a jar which she provides.

I have talked to her about feeding them finger food for lunch as at 15 months shouldnt be eating 10 month jars, were going to try sandwiches and toast next week.

Ive changed a few things in their routine already like putting them into cots for sleep instead of car seats (i know, letcher given to mum. lol) so one step at a time.

Good luck:)

Hi well they will be here very soon eek!

Thanks for that info very helpful sounds a lot like mine.
They arrived the first time with those huge puffy crisps..like wotsits?! they let me try one, they don't taste of anything though do they!
Food i am allowed to feed whatever which is good..guess its all a learning curve for them and me!
I have to feed them at about 10am then again at 2pm then thats it they dont eat again until say about 7pm when they get home which is slightly easier as laready have 2/3 to feed!..will see how it goes though!
Ill let you know how i got on!

Lol Sarah i agree horrid! i too had polish biscuits at theirs when i went round to sign them up and they were yummy!

Anyway they arrived at just before 2pm, were in the buggy and fine but as soon as he got one out he started screaming..i just thought 'oh nooo' but tbh i did expect them to!
They came up ok i carried one who then cried and the other was still screaming and we sat in the lounge with him so out of control with crying we couldn't speak to each other!! after about 5 mins (which felt like 5 hours!) he stopped and suddenly was fine. They are so so cute and such fun and they played really well..took a few mins but soon they were taking things out my hands and laughing! Dad then looked at me and whispered he was going to hide in the kitchen (good job i tidied!!) he left for about 10 mins and they were fine..didnt try and wander or anything just played.

He has asked me to have them most of the day tomorrow (which was supposed to be 2 hrs) which tbh i dont mind as working with my only mindee anyway so said yes..it means dh sitting with them in the afternoon as this is what will normally happen when i do the school run but think it will be hard work for him as they havent slept in one of my cots yet and have a feeling they will just scream..so going to keep them up and hope everything is ok! I have to collect them from the sil (who speaks no english) at 11am putting 2 screaming children in the car then off out! I have them till 4pm so long day but should be good..i hope!

Hate this bit of the starting with them and just wish i could get stuck in!

Miffy thanks!

Mum has just rung and asked how they got on. I said the above and generally i was very pleased with how it went. Obviously ide have loved them to walk in and be happy as but the language must be hard for them too as they are polish in their home and we were babbling away in english which must be odd or them!

She checked times with me and what she was sending, told me to ring her at work if any probs and sil was at home if they screamed for any reason and ide had enough! She also wants to book them in every day next week as they are on holiday up till the day they start with me so feel the more time with me the better..good for me as have no work at mo so will keep me buisy!

Glad when toms done as another step closer!

Glad it went well.

I find twins very funny and very amusing, the difference in characters, my two fight like cat and dog, no closeness at all.

It will get easier from here.:)
