Hi

I know this has been asked many time before -

How much do/would you charge for before school care, taking child to school, picking up from school and caring for them until 5.30/6?

Thanks for the help x

I would charge them the same as i charge the others, i charge an hourly rate for all the children and cant understand why a school child should be charged more, its not like they take up a full time space .

I am the same. I charge an hourly rate for all my children before and after school and insist on a minimum charge of 2 hours per day as some children only attend after school.I think it's really about knowing what others are charging so that you don't price yourself out of work but make sure you can earn a reasonable living at the same time. I have asked this on here several times but not had response :( - surely during term time the space is not an issue but dont you have to keep the space available for school holidays as presumably would then be needed full time?

I have not yet had any school age yet but am interested as I am currently advertising?!

They are still counted as over 5's in the holidays so take up a space in the over 5's but then one of my schoolies comes in the hols anyway and i am not worried that the other 2 dont as its less children to affect my two in the hols, you could always charge a retainer in the hols if they are term time only.

I charge the same hourly rate as my other mindees.
The next after schoolers I take on I am going to charge a min of a 2hr a day as anything less than that its not worth me going to get them.

i charge same rate for everyone but since i have been on here think i will start charging mim 2 hours for after school,i did look after 2 boys after school and as i said charged hourly rate but sometimes mum would be sat outside my house by time we got back from bus,so would not get anything, did start to charge her mim 1 hour but she complain, also would not pay retainer during holidays but expected me to keep place ,they have now gone, after i was told by eldest i was mums minion:angry:

Adding again..my mindee is in the holidays too usually but there are times she does not come and i then charge half what i would charge for when she was school time. So for example if her monday is £20 school times and she does not attend but it is holidays she still pays (or her mum!) £10
Hope that makes sense.
