OUTSTANDING!!!!!

I am absolutely over the moon and I want to thank each and every one of you for all the help you have given me over many months of pulling everything together.

I had two inspectors, one inspecting the inspector who was inspecting me and i can honestly say they were a pleasure to have in the house.

Very impressed that I had the new phone number (thank you to whoever put it on the forum - I had my inspection 2 days later).

They were with me from 9.45 until 3.00pm (one hour for lunch and i had to collect a child). Continuous questions which I expected particularly because there were two of them there.

So glad it's over though and totally thrilled with me grade.

Thank you so much everyone once again on this forum which has been invaluable to me and I told then inspectors that too!!!!

Of course I will, with pleasure!

They loved my house rules which I had in pictures for children and it explains why to the children.

Although I didn't have an 'allegation against myself' policy they suggested I should have a written one and asked what I would do in that instance. I will definitely write one up as it would be devestating to my family. They said it is good to have one in writing as both myself and the parents know where we stand should it happen. But it wasn't put down as a recommendation.

One question that I didn't expect was 'how do I teach the children to sustain the earth'. I said recycling, visiting the recycling banks, I was only talking to the children that morning about trees and how important they are giving out oxygen etc. Also I had a library book on recycling as well.

They wanted to know how I disciplined the children.

How do I teach children to respect things and each other - good role model myself.

How do I meet special needs. Meet as much as reasonable possible for me and the other children in my care.

How do I offer outdoor play (garden not registered at the moment as I have to make it safe as not long moved).

Loved the questionnaires the older children filled in.

How do i cater for different age groups- one on hip in garden, or on knee when doing crafts if young etc....

Complaints procedure

Safeguarding procedure

Loved how I was keen to learn about other cultures and respecting other cultures. The main thing I said is that no matter what resources there are, it is down to the attitude and that has never changed with me anyway because i have always taught children to respect one another and cultures/disabilities etc and always explained everything to them. Eg checking with a Muslim parent whether I could send a Christmas card.

Liked how I gave the children choices and how well organised my craft was and i wasn't searching for bits and pieces here and there.

How do I teach children that being physical is good for them - quite a hard one I thought,. I said the heart needs oxygen, builds muscles etc.

It has been a lot of hard work as many of you know, and yes i was thrilled as i had put myself down as good. I said i thought I would have to be more of a 'Nursery Environment' to get outstanding and they said no, and put the word around!!

Hope that helps.

Yes and i was drained at the end of it! But I did expect it because one was inspecting the other and it really flew by. They really were so lovely and made me feel totally at ease - in a way there was more to ask them and I didn't get the time! The children in my care were fantastic which helps too.
At the end of the day, I knew in my heart I had done my best and that is all that i could do - no matter what grade I got.
